We provide in office appointments as well as mobile notary services for clients in London. Weekend and Bank Holiday appointments can also be arranged.
We can also facilitate Electronic Online Remote Notarisation to any clients located anywhere around the world.
A Notary Public, also called a “Public Notary” or simply “Notary,” is a qualified legal professional and public officer, tasked with assisting the public in non-contentious legal matters. This role is part of the oldest branch of the legal profession in England and Wales.
In London and across England and Wales, a Notary Public acts as a bridge between the English legal system and foreign legal systems, helping to ensure that your documents are prepared for use in another country.
The primary role of a Notary is to verify and authenticate legal documents for international use. A Notary will confirm the identity, capacity, and authority of the person signing a document. If satisfied with these checks, the Notary will attach a unique notarial seal or, when necessary, a notarial certificate.
Unlike Solicitors and Barristers, who serve their clients directly, a Notary’s main responsibility is to the document itself. This duty requires the highest standard of care, as third parties, including foreign government officials, rely on the authenticity of Notarial Acts. A Notary may fulfill their role by drafting or witnessing documents, verifying their contents, and administering oaths or declarations.
We have extensive experience notarising documents for both private individuals and businesses.
Our primary service is to certify the authenticity of documents and signatures intended for use abroad. Our Notary Public can guide you on the best approach for your needs and provide notarial certification tailored to your requirements.
If you represent a business and are interested in establishing a regular working relationship, please feel free to reach out.
If you work long hours and find it challenging to take time off to visit a notary, Muhammad Karim’s mobile notary service can help. This service is also ideal for elderly individuals who have difficulty traveling or for family groups needing to sign documents together. In such cases, our mobile notary service can provide the convenience you need.
Additionally, this service can be beneficial for businesses, as it can be difficult for directors to find time to visit a notary’s office while managing their daily responsibilities.
If you are unable to travel to our office or require the convenience of our mobile notary service, please contact us, and we will be happy to arrange a visit to you. Please note that the mobile notary service will incur additional charges for travel and waiting time.
We provide remote electronic notarisation services to authenticate various documents. We adhere to the internationally recognized eIDAS Regulation standard for ‘Qualified Electronic Signatures,’ ensuring that the electronic signatures we produce hold the same legal validity as traditional handwritten signatures for international use.
An Apostille in the United Kingdom is a certificate issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). It verifies the signature and/or seal of a public officer, such as a Notary Public, on a document and confirms the role in which they acted. This certification holds the same validity as legalisation.
Our Notary is highly experienced in producing these certificates. An Apostille can be especially helpful, as it simplifies situations where proof of identity is required. Once approved by our Notary, this certification is recognised by organisations globally.
Many countries have joined the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, which simplifies the legalisation of public documents. Documents for use in these countries only need an “Apostille” from the FCO for legal recognition.
Apostilles are required by numerous countries, including the USA, UAE, China, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Argentina, and Canada, among others. For a full list or to verify the process for a specific country, please contact us to schedule an appointment at our London office.
Through the FCDO’s “next day” service, to which we have access as registered users, we can expedite your document legalisation. Documents submitted by early morning will be returned the next working day in the afternoon.
If you can provide your documents by 10am, we can have them legalised by the FCDO and back to you, usually by 4:30 pm the next working day. There will be an administration charge added on top of the FCDO fee in order to facilitate the next day premium legalisation.
This service arranges legalisation via the Milton Keynes FCO office within 2 working days. If you can provide your documents by 2pm, we can have them legalised by the FCDO and back to you, usually by 4:30 pm after the next working day. There will be an administration charge added on top of the FCDO fee in order to facilitate the 2 working day premium legalisation.
The FCDO’s standard processing time is two days. However, Electronic Apostilles are typically completed on the same day. This service is exclusively for E-Notarisations with a Qualified or Advanced Electronic Signature (QES) and does not apply to paper documents.
For countries not participating in the Hague Convention, documents must be legalised at the relevant Consulate. Some countries may still require an Apostille first. If consular legalisation is necessary, more time may be needed—especially for countries that require two visits. Examples include Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Tunisia, Taiwan, Vietnam and Uruguay.
Our team is highly experienced in the Consular legalisation process. We understand the specific requirements and timeframes involved and can guide you through each step. If needed, our Notary Public can assist in obtaining Embassy/Consular legalisation on your behalf.
Yes, a Notary Public can notarise foreign-language documents. In some cases, it may be necessary to translate the document into English. Muhammad Karim can advise if a certified translation is needed and can assist with obtaining one. If you need notarisation for a document in a foreign language, please contact him to discuss any specific requirements.
An Apostille is an additional document authentication for use abroad, issued by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. This certificate confirms the signature, seal, and stamp of the Notary Public, making the document legally accepted in another country.
As of December 2023, the Legalisation Office no longer offers same-day service in London, though Muhammad Karim may still be able to assist with the Restricted Urgent Service for exceptional cases. If you require same-day legalization, please provide the reason, and he will seek pre-approval from the FCDO.
While many countries are members of The Hague Apostille Convention of 1961, others are not. If your document is for use in a non-member country, it may require additional legalisation from that country’s consulate or embassy. Muhammad Karim has extensive knowledge of international legalization requirements and can advise on what you’ll need.
Muhammad Karim offers home or office visits and out-of-hours services, including weekends, by prior appointment. This service incurs an additional fee. Please let him know if you require these flexible options.
Yes, certain documents can be notarised online if authentication is required. Muhammad Karim offers digital notarisations using the internationally recognized eIDAS Regulation standard for a ‘Qualified Electronic Signature.’ This electronic signature carries the same legal weight as a handwritten one and is suitable for overseas use.
To comply with money laundering regulations, a Notary Public must verify your identity. Please bring a valid passport or a full photo card driver’s license as ID, along with a proof of residency (such as a recent bank statement or utility bill issued within the last three months).
For business & corporate clients, Muhammad Karim will need to confirm the existence of your business and your authority to represent it. For UK-based companies, he can generally verify this himself, but he may request additional documents, especially for overseas organizations. These may include:
If the notary must certify your authority to represent a company, he may also need documents like:
